Brief Focus Intervention is a creative six session intervention that aims to turn around a presenting problem quickly and effectively. All family members are invited and encouraged to attend all sessions. This programme consists of a themed session each week for a period of six weeks. Topics covered include, family history, reattachment and communication through narrative work, family enactment and learning and the family cycle of change. The referrer would be involved in all six sessions to offer continuity and uphold the work thereafter. The engagement is critical and the programme is designed to bring out motivation to change. This programme is not exclusively for families where substance misuse is an issue.
