Family Therapy

Family members
External networks

This intervention involves all family members where appropriate. Typically this intervention will be conducted within a three/five month period. Support for all family members is coordinated through an inclusive treatment care plan, which is reviewed regularly. One of the elements of MDFT is Family Therapy where people will discover the resources required to move forward in their relationships and identify more effective ways of relating, communication can be explored and different perspectives can be gained, leading to improved understanding. This intervention is concluded with an organised family enrichment activity, and a family meal. Families are then placed in “sleeper status” where progress can be reviewed periodically and there is opportunity to reengage if necessary. An example of MDFT is best illustrated by our case examples, see link.
